Banksia Park is within walking distance to delightful cafes, restaurants, playgrounds, and The Phillip Island Chocolate Factory. A leisurely walk will take you over the bridge to the picturesque seaside village of San Remo and only a short drive to popular surf and swimming beaches and all other attractions that Phillip Island has to offer!
The property is nestled on 30 acres of a natural rural landscape of trees, garden, and sea views unique to Banksia Park’s location, overlooking the historical Churchill Island and beyond. Banksia Park Estate is enriched with local history from the traditional owners of this land, the Bunurong / Boonwurrung people and the early settlers.
Phillip Island was part of the homelands of the Yallok Bulluk people of the Bunurong/Boonwurrung clan for many thousands of years before white exploration of the area began. The Bunurong/Boonwurrung were members of the Kulin nation of Aboriginal people. The Bunurong/Boonwurrung people called the island "Millowl". The Yallok Bulluk came to Millowl in the summer months to feast on shellfish, fish, small marsupials, and mutton birds (short-tailed shearwaters). Ochre was available at several locations on Millowl and Churchill Island, and would have been used as body decoration during ceremonies. If you venture down through the trees here at Banksia Park you will most certainly get a sense of what it would have been like for the Yallok Bulluk, as you experience the serenity of the untouched wetlands and see all of the native wild life at play.
The history of the property itself, from what we have uncovered so far is that the chicory kiln at the entrance is known as the “Bern Denham kiln”. We are still uncovering the specific details of it yet we can only assume that Bern Denham may have resided on the property. So, who is Bern Denham? He was one of the three original entrepreneurs in the 1920s, along with Bert West and Bert Watchorn, who were the first to take tourists by torchlight to see the little penguins’ nightly arrival on the beach on the Summerland Peninsula.
In addition to this he is noted on the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club’s historical page as an influential contributor in getting the racetrack built and up and running.
Outside of this, Banksia Park has been operating for 20 plus years as an accommodation business and as the new owners we will continue the tradition and look forward to being able to welcome you to Banksia Park Estate.

We supply all linen, towels, tea and coffee provisions and basic toiletries for your stay.
Banksia Park Estate can also be booked as a whole accommodation package, ‘The Haven’ Banksia Complete Stay. ‘The Haven’ utilises The Banksia, The Isla, The Kiah, and The Heath suites, with an additional double fold out sofa bed available for use in the shared common room. It is suitable for facilitating Retreats, large groups of families or friends up to 15 people, with the common room being ideal for group activities and interactions whilst allowing the privacy of individual suites with separate entrances.

‘The Haven’ provides guests access to all of our accommodation suites, ‘The Banksia’, ‘The Isla’, ‘The Kiah’, 'The Eden' and ‘The Heath’. With exclusive access to the expansive accommodation and grounds, use of the common room with a spacious kitchenette, living and dining room. The Haven is perfect for groups wanting to make use of all Banksia Park Estate has to offer. Perfect for large families who would like separate rooms, friend groups wanting to getaway together or people wishing to host retreats. ‘The Haven’ can accommodate up to 17 people in various room and bed configurations, with an additional double sofa bed available in the common room.
The Banksia is the ultimate “room with a view” Studio, featuring a Queen Bed, side tables, sofa, television, reverse cycle air conditioner, table and chairs. It has an ensuite with shower and toilet and is complete with a snack preparation kitchenette including a small bar fridge. This suite also features a large deck, enabling you to look out over the rural and Westernport Bay views. Your private viewing platform for you to enjoy the peace and quiet whilst watching the wallabies, birds and other fauna. Additional bunk beds and fold out bed are available to suit Twin Share, extra people or families (Max 5 people).

The Isla (Island) – Welcome to Millowl (Phillip Island). The Bunurong/Boonwurrung people called the island Millowl.
The Isla is our Deluxe Spa Studio featuring a Queen Bed, side tables, sofa, television, reverse cycle air conditioner, table and chairs. It is complete with a snack preparation kitchenette including a small bar fridge. This suite also features a large separate double spa that has glass window panels, enabling you to look out over the rural and sea views. Twin vanity, shower and toilet complete this expansive bathroom. Your private patio entrance gives you the luxury of enjoying the peace and quiet whilst watching the wallabies, birds and other fauna. Additional bedding is available as required to suit Twin Share, extra people or families (Max 4 people).

‘The Kiah – Aboriginal meaning “From the beautiful place”.
The Kiah is a bright, sun filled studio overlooking rural and sea views. A patio entrance leads you through into your spa studio, complete with a reverse cycle air conditioner, Queen Bed, side tables, sofa, television, reverse cycle air conditioner, table and chairs. It is complete with a snack preparation kitchenette including a small bar fridge. A separate bathroom with a double spa, vanity unit and hair dryer leads to a private toilet and shower. For an extra person, a single bed can be provided in the same room. Enjoy watching the flora and fauna from your patio whilst watching the sunset.

The Eden – Our garden of Eden room is an intimate space perfect for guests wanting a room where their focus is on being out and about. A room that is comfortable and cosy, offering tea/coffee facilities, a Queen bed with ensuite including shower, toilet, vanity and hair dryer. Use of shared facilities are available in our common room for guests looking for a snack preparation area, dining area or some additional space to relax. The southern windows from the studio overlook the large garden area where you may just spot Charles our resident peacock. The north facing patio entrance overlooks our secluded rural property and distant sea views.

The Heath – Is our adjoining room option. It combines the Eden room’s Queen bed with ensuite including shower, toilet, vanity and hair dryer with an adjoining room adding a bunk bed (and optional additional single bed) for a group requiring Twin Share or for families requiring separate rooms (Max 5 people). It also adds a snack preparation kitchenette including a small bar fridge.
